- Senior Financial Accountant
Description
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for working with the Finance Team on managing the organization’s expenditure reports, invoicing, daily banking, financial policies and capital assets. The Senior Financial Accountant will collaborate with colleagues in business meetings and planning sessions to monitor expenditure reports and budgets.
Illustrative Duties/Responsibilities:
Complete monthly expenditure reports for budget/program managers to assist in budget tracking, forecasting, and reconciliation
Prepare and send invoices for services rendered each month for reimbursement; Process invoices to appropriate revenue account upon receipt
Process daily banking to ensure adequate cash on hand to cover AP and payroll expenses; Reconcile cash on a monthly basis along with other GL accounts by analyzing reports and preparing correction journal entries as necessary
Responsible for ensuring finance policies are reviewed and approved by the necessary party; Update and/or write policies as requested
Update and maintain the Finance policy page of the Intranet
Maintain the agency’s capital asset reporting and depreciation; Coordinate bi-annual inventory review
Facilitate the budget revision process and ensure budget revisions are accurate and timely
Track revenues and expenses for CPHI and reconcile monthly bank statement
Perform the monthly reconciliation of NCCMT account against monthly statement
Reconcile Sales Tax monthly
Monitor budgets by tracking actual spending against the approved budget, identifying variances and potential issues; Ensure spending remains within the allocated budget
Prepare detailed reports on budgeting and spending; explains proposals to management for review
Ensure budget compliance by verifying that budgeting procedures comply with agency policies, relevant laws and regulations
Provide technical assistance and advice and support on cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation
Embrace a culture of continuous Quality Improvement within CHA, by actively participating in QI trainings, opportunities, and projects by utilizing QI concepts and techniques
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education/Experience: Must have a minimum of five to seven years of governmental finance experience. Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to analyze financial data and make informed recommendations; Ability to effectively communicate and present ideas both orally or in written form; Proficiency in presenting budget findings and recommendations to management; Precision in reviewing budget proposals and financial reports; Knowledge of budgeting practices and financial forecasting; Proficiency in using budgeting software and financial tools; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues; Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records.
